Following the success of Broken, the debut single from Caught By The Machine, we are delighted to share with you another track from the album just to give you a little hint as to what is to come. The Golden Ones, is a song all about the generational responsibilities and accountabilities for our world. We, (The Golden Ones) clear up behind our forefathers whilst creating devastation for our children (The Golden Ones) to tidy up. Here is a listening video:

2.     We have released our new single (Listen here) & Video (watch here)

3.     We have announced the title and release date for our new album

This extract from the press release from our fabulous new PR company Incendia Music will tell you everything you need to know!!

Press Release (extract)

Hailing from the Southeast of the United Kingdom, melodic yet progressive rock act The Room are thrilled to announce their signing to White Star Records, the label owned and operated by Chris Hillman and John Mitchell. This announcement comes shortly after White Star Records added London prog rock outfit Quantum Pig to their growing roster of artists. Both bands now join a label that currently houses the likes of Voices From The Fuselage, Kepler Ten and The Paradox Twin.

Chris Hillman details the journey leading toward this signing event:

“I’d been aware of The Room for some time and became very impressed with their musicianship, however the thing that really won me over was this huge step up in their melodic, anthemic quality. It feels like The Room are growing and developing with every album, and I find many of their melodies going around in my head after listening – real “ear worms” that I think will resonate with a large audience. Get ready for some quality prog with sticky, memorable moments!”

Along with their signing announcement, The Room have simultaneously unveiled early details of a new studio album. Their upcoming third full-length is titled ‘Caught By The Machine’ and will be released on 22nd February 2019. Ahead of this release, the sextet are giving fans and newcomers a taste of things to come with their first video single for the track ‘Broken’.

Binding a broad range of musical influences into a distinct and nostalgic sound, smart songwriting and captivating melodies form the foundation of The Room’s musical core. ‘Broken’ proves no exception, but don’t let it’s bright, foot-tapping, major-key guitar riffing fool you – there’s more to the single than meets the eye…

“I had to think long and hard about how ‘Broken’ was to be approached,” explains vocalist Martin Wilson. “I’d always wanted to play with the idea that most problems people have are brought on by themselves; Wrong life decisions, bad investments, excessive drink and drugs abuse, mistreatment of others and so on. Often, I have found that people in these positions are the first to complain, but the last to admit fault.”

“With ‘Broken’, the instrumental backdrop is uplifting, with this jaunty feel to it, but I wanted to find something different – a juxtaposition, if you like – to the lyrics, adding a little more intrigue to the song. So we’ve got this upbeat instrumental backing, while the lyrics offer a slightly darker picture. Spiralling out of control because of one’s own actions, how life can crash over negativity you’ve brought on yourself and so on…and yet you still complain and pass blame.”

The Room unashamedly admits that they wrote “Broken” as something of a challenge to themselves. All too aware of the modern specifics of genre definition, the band hoped to be able to break prog traditions, writing a three-minute, mainstream song that would merge the great melodies and broad choruses of prog, whilst remaining radio-friendly and accessible.

Despite the strong narrative of ‘Broken’, The Room recognised the bounce and drive of the single and wanted to bring this to life even more with a quirky, fun music video, shot at the 2018 Cambridge Rock Festival by MHG Music Videos.

So there you have it, another step up in this crazy business. We are so excited to share the first track from our new album with you. We will announce further details of ‘Caught By The Machine’ in due course along with some exciting new live shows for 2019.

As always we thank you for your amazing support and hope to see you very soon!

Kindest regards

Martin, Eric, Steve, Chris, Mark and Andy

Website Update and T-Shirt Sale

We have finally made some time to update the website with biogs for our amazing new band mates. Check out the About page and learn about Erics passion for the violin and Marks days in South African hotels. It all makes fascinating reading.

We always have special offers in our web store but as we get close to the release of the new album we need to clear the shelves of the white “Bedlam” T-Shirts. We have reduced these to just and amazing £5.00 plus P&P. We only have a few small and XL left. When they are gone they are gone.

New Album News

We are delighted to announce that we will be releasing our third studio album in November this year and that we will be recording at Outhouse Studios in Reading with the amazing John Mitchell at the controls.

We are so excited about working with John and we know he is going to push us hard, challenge us and help us deliver an amazing record.

For those of you who are not acquainted with John, he is an extraordinary musician and producer. He joined It Bites in 2006 as guitarist and lead vocalist and writes and plays with Arena, Frost, Kino, and Lonely Robot to name but a few.

Just some of Johns production credits include: Kim Seviour, Steven Wilson, InGlorious, Enter Shikari, and Touchstone.

As you may know we have been “road testing” some of our material at recent shows. This will continue at HRH AOR our next show on March 9th and then on May 5th at the Heaven and Hell Festival in Sheffield, before we get into the summer festival season.

We can’t give you any specific release information yet but please keep your eye on future newsletters as you our Roommates will be the first to hear. Our social media feeds will carry news from the studio as it all happens along with the by now obligatory silly photos.
